Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.

Top Ten Yoga in Newcastle

I'm not a big fan of comparing and judging - so the top ten list is a little longer than ten and there's no order for best at the top or whatever.  What I wanted was to share some of the Yoga Studios in Newcastle so you can see what's out there and make an informed choice about where to do yoga in Newcastle.

Most of all, Yoga offers a deep body connection between mind and body - and a daily opportunity to embrace and connect with yourself.

Whether you are new to yoga or an established yogi, you are most welcome to visit and enjoy your practice in and around Newcastle, NSW Australia - and I have put together a comprehensive listing of the top ten places for yoga in Newcastle.

People do yoga for back pain, to stretch their hamstrings or to find some deeper connection - and it is this offering of a deeper connection - of getting into a flow state or the zone - that keeps people coming back to yoga.  Here's the list - please feel free to comment and add your own suggestions.

Ashtanga Yoga Newcastle NSW Australia
This yoga studio offers Mysore Style classes for beginners to advanced.

Ashtanga Yoga Newcastle, level 2, 372 King St, Newcastle, NSW

The first thing to strike you when you walk into a Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga class is that it seems like total chaos.

Here’s one student doing a headstand in the corner, while another is coming into the triangle posture and a third is struggling to balance on her arms. What is going on here?

If you stay a while and watch closely, you start to notice a pattern emerging. Everyone seems to be on a path, following a precise choreography.

Also, compared to other yoga classes, the silence is striking. Occasionally the teacher will whisper something to a student, but the dominant sound is the collective breath.
